Embarking on our 12-day Amadablam Base Camp trek is preceded by exploring the Kathmandu Valley and a thrilling science flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. This 35-minute flight treats us to a mesmerizing journey through a lush green valley, majestic mountains, and snow-capped peaks. However, during the peak season in autumn (October and November) and spring (March and April), no direct flights are available between Kathmandu and Lukla. In such cases, travelers must travel to Ramechhap Airport for alternative options. If you plan to travel from Kathmandu to Ramechhap on the same day, it is advisable to commence your journey around midnight to catch a flight to Lukla
Upon reaching Lukla, you will be welcomed by stunning mountain vistas and a unique climate. Join our team and begin the Amadablam base camp trek, following the same path as the Everest base camp trek. Start your journey from Lukla to Phakding, descending through a picturesque, lush green valley and passing by quaint Sherpa villages and monasteries. Cross the suspension bridge over the Dudha Koshi River with the majestic Kusum Kangaru mountain (6,367 m) in the background.
Embark from Phading village and proceed towards Namche. Along the journey, you will traverse through pine trees, verdant valleys, and picturesque villages. Upon crossing the Hillary Bridge, ascend to Namche Bazar, a prominent Sherpa town. As you cross the bridge, you will reach the initial viewpoint of Mount Everest. The path will lead you through pine and rhododendron forests until you reach Namche Bazar. If fortunate, you may even spot the Himalayan pheasant during the expedition.
Discover the vibrant Namche Bazaar and explore the local market, cafes, and the renowned Everest Views Hotel, which stands as one of the highest-elevation hotels globally. Visit the National Park Office and Musume before embarking on the journey from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche, surrounded by picturesque green pine valleys and majestic peaks in the distance. The trail from Kangjuma winds through forests and yak meadows, descending to Pungethanga, crossing rivers, and passing checkpoints before ascending to Tengboche through pine forests teeming with wildlife such as deer, Himalayan thar, Himalayan pheasants, and various bird species.
Discover the allure of Tenboche, home to the revered Tengboche Monastery, an ancient Tibetan monastery. Embrace the tranquility of the night as you witness the mesmerizing sunrise and sunset views over the snowcapped peaks, including the legendary Mount Everest. Immerse yourself in the monastery's spiritual ambiance and gain insight into its profound values. Traverse the Himalayan terrain, crossing the next bridge, until you reach the picturesque Pangboche village. Delve into the rich Sherpa culture by visiting the Pangboche Monastery. To further enhance your adventure, embark on a day hike from Pangboche village to the Amadablam Base Camp, the ultimate trekking destination of the Amadablam Base Camp trek.
Concluding our Amadablam trek in Pangboche, we then retraced our route back to Lukla through Tengboche, Namche Bazar, Manjo, and Phanding, before catching a flight back to Kathmandu.
